Project Manager

Note: This is a remote position. The employment term is flexible (full-time, part-time, or contract). Compensation will be based on experience.

Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closing out of assigned projects and initiatives, ensuring consistency with company policies and practices. The Project Manager leads the project team and interacts with clients and other stakeholders to manage projects based on defined scope, cost, and execution commitments. This role operates in a fast-paced environment and must provide clear leadership, coordination, account oversight, and management of the project to deliver successful solutions and navigate interdependencies in a matrixed environment. The person successful in this role is expected to have a breadth of knowledge of technical project management fundamentals, software development life cycle, and common PM methodologies, frameworks and artifacts (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).


Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business partners, sponsors, assigned Business Analyst, and project team members to create the project charter, work breakdown structure (WBS), project schedule, evaluation and recommendations documents, communications plans, RACI documents, and other project artifacts as assigned.
  • Provide project status reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly basis as needed.
  • Work closely with sales and solutions teams to translate customer requirements into services agreements for implementation.
  • Full life-cycle project management of a wide variety of ion8 process-oriented implementations, following appropriate methodology (waterfall, agile, or hybrid, determined by statement of work and agreed up with client).
  • Conduct formal reviews with business sponsor and key stakeholders at scope completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate understanding of policy, methodology and artifact creation that influence and lead project & change management to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives.
  • Drive team iteration execution, communicate with management and stakeholders, and protect the team from uncontrolled injection of work (changes are evaluated/intentional).
  • Maintain team and project data in appropriate company systems and tech stack (i.e. Jira, Confluence, Trello, etc.) to support estimates, execution, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proactively monitor, evaluate and report on project performance and work with internal teams to identify areas for solution enhancement; participate in regular business reviews with key client stakeholders.
  • Traffic and coordinate support requests to appropriate members of the team for fulfillment.
  • Coordinate go-live activities both internally and externally and support client testing and releases, as needed.
  • Prepare, review and present technical reports and project documentation, including but not limited to providing assistance in negotiating and modifying contracts to resolve claims and disputes.
  • Proactively look for process definition and improvement opportunities and lead others in adhering to existing processes and contributing to their improvement.
  • Effectively perform project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking of team expenses, and minimizing exposure and risk in the project.
  • Flexibility to support additional and varied initiatives as needed, including participation in ad hoc and special projects as directed by the company.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a related field, PMP/PPM certification, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience using the Atlassian suite of products (specifically Jira and Confluence), or equivalent.
  • Strong business acumen in project planning and management.
  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently, prioritize accordingly, incorporate and give respectful feedback, take/give direction well, and iterate quickly.
  • Interest in keeping up-to-date with the latest project management trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Experience executing tasks with significant attention to detail.
