Director of Business Intelligence

Note: This is a remote position for Canadian residents only. The employment term is flexible (full-time, part-time, or contract). Compensation will be based on experience.


We're looking for a Director of Business Intelligence to own the overall design and support of our BI technology environment, including acquisition, management, warehousing and delivery solutions. You will be part of the Product & Experience department and report directly to the Chief Product & Experience Officer and work closely with our CEO.

You will lead ion8's efforts to create a data-driven culture, allowing our customers to gain insight faster. You will also achieve in-depth Business Intelligence and Analytics insights, establish KPIs and OKRs, and write (or automate) reports to communicate ideas and drive continuous improvement. You will lead by example and manage a team of Marketers who will seek mentorship and career advancement following your lead.


  • Gain an understanding of the business and quickly identify the key issues, the required insights, the available data points, and the data gaps that need to be filled.

  • Create an effective and forward-looking platform for analytics and insight generation by cleaning, quality-checking, organizing, and structuring data. Create processes for the ongoing collection, integration, and updating of data.

  • Create compelling visualizations that effectively communicate strategic insights to a range of audience members, including executives and business and technical professionals. Collaborate with stakeholders to address the demands and worries of customers.

  • Consult with customers and stakeholders, present visualizations and insights, and engage in dialogue to exchange ideas, get feedback, and improve the outcome to satisfy demands.

  • Build & lead a team of marketing professionals that will help uncover business insights and guide decision making.

  • Uncover key drivers and trends within the business, leading executive driven data investigations for critical decisions.

  • Automate reporting as much as possible.

  • Create strong relationships with senior leadership, understanding their data and analytics needs, and build and maintain a roadmap to deliver them.

  • Provide technical and data modeling expertise to the team.

  • Oversee high-level strategic and tactical decisions when it comes to utilizing data to drive business outcomes – communicate the results and pros/cons of these solutions to senior leadership and stakeholders..

  • Stay on top of the latest analytics trends and requirements and contribute through providing perspective, insights and ideas.



  • Degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in designing and maintaining visualizations and dashboards that impress executives and impact their decisions.

  • Strong knowledge of Zoho Analytics, Google Analytics & Tag Manager, Zoho PageSense, and how they work relevantly with the rest of the Zoho Suite to gain valuable insights.

  • Experience moving a variety of data, in various formats, from different source systems into a single uniform location.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment and prioritize work independently to reach goals and deadlines

  • Knowledge of and/or demonstrated interest in sustainability (ESG) topics, principles, and practices is an asset.

  • Able to balance multiple projects while effectively managing timelines and expectations.

  • Strong sense of concept development, strategy, research, and problem-solving in a fast-paced, iterative environment – with significant attention to detail.

  • Team player with the ability to work independently, prioritize accordingly, incorporate and give respectful feedback, take/give direction well, and iterate quickly.

  • Interest in keeping up-to-date with the latest marketing trends, tools, and technologies.

  • Experience executing tasks with significant attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
